Prerequisites

Core Prerequisites

The Exia Process requires Microsoft Team Foundation Server 2010 (TFS). TFS is Microsoft's system for source code management, build management and work item process management. The Exia Process requires the MSF Agile 5.0 workitem template. Support for other templates is planned for future versions.

:

I am a Microsoft Platform Developer

If you are a Microsoft developer, you are probably already using TFS. TFS is part of the Visual Studio suite and is bundled with the MSDN subscription included with most versions of Visual Studio. In that case, just install The Exia Process and connect to your TFS server.

I am a Non-Microsoft Developer (J2EE, Cognos, PeopleSoft, Ruby etc.)

If you are not a Microsoft shop, you can either buy and install TFS, or subscribe to one of the many TFS hosting providers.

How to License and Install TFS

You can license TFS at any major software retailer, or online. Here is the Microsoft Store product page for TFS. TFS is highly scalable, and works great for one person teams as well as one thousand person development shops. For individuals or small teams it can be installed on a Windows 7 desktop or a small server in just a few minutes. The simplified installation for small teams uses the free SQL Server Express database which is free and is installed automatically during the TFS installation process.

For more information please see License Details.

How to use TFS with a Hosting Provider

Google "Team Foundation Server hosting provider". Providers such as DiscountASP can get you signed up for as little as $20/month per user.

How to Use our TFS Cloud Service

Exia will soon be offering a TFS cloud service for a nominal fee. You will be able to connect to your TFS project hosted in the secure cloud. Keep an eye on this site for details.
